The purpose of this research is to work towards a biofeedback tool in assessing a person’s posture while sitting at a desk. Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) such as Carpal Tunnel can be influenced by poor habits in front of a computer. Biofeedback for those who begin regressing to these bad habits could be beneficial at reducing the occurrence of MSDs. An important step in this biofeedback process is to train a classification system on what is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ posture. Gathering training data will allow us to discriminate between different sitting postures. We hypothesize that a classification system will be effective in providing feedback for sitting positions.
