This is an extremely important (and interesting) trip for documenting changes with livestock exclosures and changed grazing management. A two-year collaboration with permittees and the Forest Service during 2007-2009 resulted in numerous cattle management changes, including the fencing of two vulnerable wetlands; the construction of 7 range cages by the Trust and Forest Service; and reductions in cattle numbers and amount of grass utilization allowed. The Trust re-read range cages and photopoints in 2010-2011, but not 2012. This trip will document the benefits that have been gained after 5 years with the exclosures and changed grazing management – in aspen, mountain mahogany, sagebrush, and wet meadows. The information gathered will be used right away, because the Fishlake NF is amending its forest plan for livestock grazing , for the first time in 27 years.
