Help the Chicago area show the country how biodiverse our region is by making observations of animals, plants, fungi, and any other creatures between April 14-18! Use your phone or camera and upload observations through the iNaturalist app or website. Sixteen U.S. cities are participating in the City Nature Challenge 2017: explore your urban areas and discover the nature all around you. Last year over 20,000 observations were logged by over 1,000 citizen scientists, representing 1698 species in the San Francisco Bay Area, and 1679 species in L.A. County! What will we find this year, when we look all over the country?
Habitat 2030 will be hosting an event on Wooded Island at Jackson Park, but you can participate any time between April 14-18 anywhere in Cook County for it to add to our totals. At the event, we will have a brief tutorial of how to use the iNaturalist app then get exploring the diverse nature that lives on Wooded Island.
