April 14th is Citizen Science Day and a New Moon Phase. This means that the moon will be located on the same side of the earth as the sun and will not be visible in the night sky. Moon-free nights enable astronomers to look at deep-sky objects, such as galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae. Our friends from Omaha Astronomical Society will join us in a telescope exploration of the Milky Way and Moon Phase activities. We will also be looking at light pollution from our closest metropolitan city, Omaha, and talking about ways to reduce this harmful effect.
