Deane Dana Friendship Park, 1805 W 9th St. San Pedro, CA 90732 Are you curious about nature in the South Bay? Come join us for a plant and wildlife survey of Deane Dana Friendship Park. Scientists and educators from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and County of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation will show you and your family how to survey this unique urban natural park and will display specimens of wildlife that can be found in the area. This nature day will take place during the four day long City Nature Challenge, the world’s largest annual wildlife observation competition. Your observations will count toward Los Angeles County’s total as we compete against over 60 cities worldwide to see which city can document the most wildlife. Whether you’re in it to help win the City Nature Challenge, or just curious to learn more about the wildlife around the South Bay, together we will explore nature in Deane Dana Friendship Park, as experts from the museum will show you how to “put on your nature eyes” and see the park in a whole new way! There will be an optional iNaturalist training from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and two separate bioblitz times 10:00-12:00p.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m.
