WV Save Our Streams Program

WV Save Our Streams trains citizen scientists in West Virginia how to monitor and become watchdogs over their local wadeable streams and rivers. The program focuses on a biological approach to stream study, which includes the collection and evaluation of the benthic macroinvertebrate community and an assessment of the stream’s basic physiochemical conditions.
|How to Join||
Join an existing community organization or form your own and request a workshop. A minimum of six persons are needed. Get started here: http://www.dep.wv.gov/sos
Appropriate outdoor gear for working in and around streams (i.e. comfortable, warm, loose-fitting clothes, boots or waders, gloves, hats etc.) Most stream surveys are completed from spring through fall.
