The Water Quality Monitoring or RiverWatch Team uses a compact electronic sonde to collect real-time data on the temperature, dissolved oxygen content, acidity or alkalinity, conductivity, and nutrient content of the River water at 15 different locations along the River. These parameters are used to provide a current picture of the state of the River water. Monitoring occurs the 3rd Friday and following Sunday of every month. It is split into two teams East and West, and each team monitors 7 sites along the river. East Team heads out Friday from eastern Mission Trails Regional Park East Fortuna Staging Lot and West Team heads out on Sunday, from the San Diego River Park Foundation office.
